Village of Zheravna — the Spirit of the Bulgarian National Revival
The village of Zheravna is a picturesque Bulgarian settlement located at the foothills of the Eastern Balkan Mountains, in the Sliven region. Zheravna is one of the most important National Revival villages in Bulgaria and has been declared an architectural and historical reserve, with over 200 restored houses–cultural monuments from the 18th–19th centuries, closely connected with Bulgarian history, crafts, and traditional lifestyle.
The history of the village dates back to ancient times, but its cultural flourishing took place during the 17th–18th centuries, when Zheravna developed into a significant craft and cultural center with active trade, sheep breeding, and skilled craftsmanship. Today, Zheravna attracts thousands of visitors with its unique atmosphere, tranquility, and authenticity.
